"Create New Formations (Facade version)" grew from an artist book project in 2015 (PDF), in which an abstract narrative is formed using the individual stones of a Gothic arch as a kind of alphabet. Proceeding through the quasi-historic phases of--

1. Stabilized by Collaborative Leaning
2. Subjected to Forces
3. Reduced to Pile Gestalt
4. Create New Formations

-- the book explored visual metaphors of creating new systems and languages from old components. For the present version, commissioned by the Hecksher Museum, the individual stones and architectural elements of the museum facade become the parts of the symbolic alphabet, defying gravity in an attempt to find new meanings.
