034 Strata Systems v02_NIJIMI / inkjet paintings / 2014-2015
Strata Systems are a series of inkjet paintings exploring subjective image space and hybrid systems aesthetics (see v01_LOCI post). Images are generated from sound, then printed and painted on by hand with sumi ink, acrylic and CMYK ink salvaged from spent inkjet cartridges. The word "Nijimi" is Japanese and refers to the bleeding quality in some sumi ink paintings. v02_NIJIMI builds on the digital and analog explorations of the previous works, this time being built from sound recordings of a psychoanalysis session between the artist and a therapist. Part of a larger body of work over the last several years under the banner SPECULATIVE FORENSICS. Dimensions vary from approximately 8"x10" to 12"x18".
