avalanche collective is blake carrington, christopher gianunzio, and colin todd.
Avalanche Collective navigates contemporary urban space and systems through the historical lens of a polar expedition. Using performance and sculpture, the group creates scenarios where anachronistic and modern forms of spatial exploration collide. Everyday spaces become theatres for the romantic and obsolete. Avalanche Collective has received grants from the Ewing Marion Kaufman Foundation and the Chancellor’s Office of Engagement Initiatives at Syracuse University for founding Urban Video Project, an initiative that uses the post-industrial landscape of Syracuse as context for multimedia projections.
